7 years before present. Hel. Kari turned his head in front of the mirror, first one way then the other. He wiped away little bits of dried blood from the edge of his lips, and pushed his bangs further toward the front to hide his sides. There, good as new. It had only been two days since he was jumped by Gregory and his gang. The most serious cuts had since healed to a less alarming sliver of scabs. His bruises, though, were still noticeably purple, so he had torn through his closet to look for long sleeved clothes, even though the mercury was hitting thirty centigrade. By the time Kari reached the double glass doors of the hospital, his brows were matted and if he had any less self control, he might have stripped as bare as the day he was born. Thankfully, he had been taught better. As he stepped forward, the doors spread apart to release a welcome gush of chilled air. He stood for a while to bask in the wonderful draft.
